Moisture Is Detrimental To a Home
Moisture is detrimental to a home. Left unnoticed, water intrusion will cause major damage to a homes structure and cause mold growth. Rain water should be shed away from the roof immediately and diverted away from the structure to avoid ground erosion issues over time. Leaks behind walls are often unknown to the homeowner until much damage has already occurred. We use specialty tools such as infrared thermal cameras and moisture sensing tools to help us find areas of elevated moisture. These tools are not able to see behind or through walls, and areas behind walls are beyond the scope of a home inspection, but the tools can help detect elevated moisture at or near the surface which can indicate a larger water intrusion problem. Only invasive measures such as opening up sections of walls will the water source be found and corrected, so catching the moisture early on is important.
